Project 13: How to choose a wireless router

Speed Ratings: Some routers provide high speeds but won't necessarily increase the speed of your network, so get a router that provides sufficient speed.

Popular Models: Buy a router that has good ratings from buyers and critics.

Warranties: Always buy a router with a warranty just in case you're not entirely pleased with the router.

Cost: Don't assume that the latest models will provide the fastest speeds. Even the some of the older models can provide sufficient speed, so keep in mind that last years model can be just as good as this years model. Take the chance to buy something a good price.

Project 12: Wireless Routers - 3D Drawings

The power port utilizes electricity to allow the box to work.
The reset button resets the network connection.
The USB port allows for connection through the USB
The WAN port connects the box to the internet service provider.
The LAN port allows for internet connection with a ethernet wire.
The antenna provides wireless internet connection.
The LED shows the networks connectivity.

Project 11: Wireless Routers

What are wireless routers???
Wireless routers allow for many computers, smartphones, and other devices to connect to the internet without the use of wires.

What are the different wireless standards? How are they different?
There are four different wireless standards: WAN, MAN, LAN, and PAN.
Each and every one of these standards are used for their own specific reasons. Each standard has its own wireless proximity. For example: PAN connects devices within a close proximity; however, WAN connects devices in large areas such as a city.
